ABOUT OUR UNIFORMS

Q. I've had problems finding a uniform that will fit me properly because of my body shape. Why is your uniform so different?

A. Most companies offer a universal size of uniform given your height and weight. These uniforms rarely fit everyone well. Universally sized uniforms cannot provide the exacting requirements of a demanding high performance athlete, or demanding consumer. Athletes require form-fitting equipment that considers the minimum regulatory requirements.

At Toraki, it is important to us that you are sized properly so that your uniform (jacket and pant) fits. Our gis come close to “made-to-measure” right from the factory.

Q. How do I determine what uniform will best meet my needs and budget?

A. There are three questions that you should ask yourself:

What is your budget i.e., $50 - $99; $100 - $149; $150 - 199; $200+?

The prices of Toraki uniforms reflect cotton density, size, construction and guarantees more than just quality. For example, our "PREMIUM" label uniform is cut and stitched exactly like our "GOLD" label uniform and so the price difference is really in the cotton density and the difficulty with which it is constructed.

Are you a beginner and how many times a week do you practice?

Our "WHITE" and "BLUE" label uniforms are for beginners. The difference between the two products is color; one is bleached white ("WHITE") and the other is dyed blue ("BLUE"). More serious practitioners often purchase the "SILVER" or "GOLD" label uniforms.  The "PREMIUM", "SILVER" and "GOLD" uniforms are bleached white and the "GOLD BLUE" uniform is dyed blue in color.

Are you training for recreation or sport?

Beginners should commence with our “DOJO” or “WHITE” label uniform. If you are training three or more times a week, you will realistically require two uniforms. We recommend you invest in our “GOLD” or “PERSONAL GOLD” label as you become more experienced because it was designed to be invincible, so to speak (eg. It can "give and take a beating").

IMPORTANT SIZING INFORMATION

Q. What uniform size do I need?

A.This depends on the type of uniform you are interested in.

At toraki, it is of paramount importance to have our customers sized properly. Sometimes we request additional information from customers (PERSONAL SERIES uniforms). Please be accommodating of our request to enable us to better assist you, the customer. The additional sizing information enables toraki to not only immediately size individuals more effectively, but also to create a legacy of information for individualized reference and future product innovations.

For the WHITE, DOJO, PREMIUM, SILVER, GOLD, BLUE and GOLD BLUE uniforms we have provided height and weight charts/tables for you to help size you. We have also provided some "general" sizing guidelines to help you even further.

For the PERSONAL SERIES of gi, we need several body measurements and gi preferences.

We request the following information:

Height, Weight, Chest, Waist, Thigh, Calf, Bicep and Forearm.

In addition, there are three (3) judo specific measurements:
    1) Sleeve-2-Sleeve;
    2) Pant Outseam
    3) Wrist-2-Wrist

1) Sleeve-to-Sleeve (S2S) Length Measurement

To determine the Sleeve-to-Sleeve (S2S) measurement, please follow this procedure on a jacket that has been washed and completed dried:
1)    Please "lay" your judogi jacket on a flat surface with the arms outstretched (with the back of the jacket facing you).
2)    Measure the distance from one sleeve opening, across the back and over to the other sleeve opening.
3)    PLEASE DO NOT MEASURE WITH YOUR ARMS STRETCHED OUT TO THE SIDES. THIS WILL BE INCORRECT.
NOTE If you require more or less length on your current judogi jacket in terms of sleeve length, please add or subtract to the S2S length that you provide accordingly.

2) Pant Outseam (PO) Measurement

To determine the Pant Outseam (PO) measurement, please follow this procedure;

1) Please "lay" your judogi pants on a table or flat surface;
1) Please measure the length from the waistband of the pant to the leg opening.

3) Wrist-to-Wrist (W2W) Length Measurement

To determine the Wrist-to-Wrist (W2W) measurement, please follow this procedure:
1)    Obtain the assistance of someone;
2)    Stand with your arms in front of you (as if you were being tested by the referee at judogi control);
3)    Ask your friend to measure the distance from one wristbone around the widest part of your back and down to the other wristbone.

We have designed some sizing forms (PDF format) for your convenience.
These are available in multiple languages. Please select one (1) of the following languages;

Dutch
English
French
German
Russian
Spanish

NOTE: You will require the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files.

Question: I have a tournament/competition this coming weekend and want to wear a new judogi for it?

Answer: At TORAKI, we HIGHLY DISCOURAGE you from adopting this strategy with respect to uniform selection. The judogi is a piece of high performance equipment. Only in extreme circumstances such as your judogi ripped "two (2) days" before the tournament do we recommend purchasing a "new" uniform. Hopefully most competitive judoka have more than one judogi available for use at any one time and this "emergency situation" will not occur.
There are several difficulties with trying to order a judogi at the "last moment". In addition to ordering the correct size, you must allow yourself time to wash and shrink the judogi (or judo pants) to the desired size. There is no shortcut.

We recommend you constantly "examine" your judogi for wear and tear and prepare (plan) for the replacement of one’s equipment (judogi) from time to time.

  • Turn your uniform inside out before washing and drying.
  • Wash your uniform as soon as possible after use or hang dry it until it is to be washed.
  • Wash in hot water unless it is a blue colored uniform, then use warm water instead.

CUSTOMER COMMITMENT AND SERVICE

Q. What if I am sent a uniform that does not fit properly?

A. If a uniform does not fit, return it within 30 days (postage paid) and we will exchange it without hesitation. Before you do, please remember to shrink the uniform at least a couple of times as per the washing instructions and keep in mind that the uniform has some more shrinkage to go. GENERAL INFORMATION

Technical Questions (Information Technology)

Question: Is E-mail communication private and secure?

Answer: No. Until such time as TORAKI is satisfied with the security of Internet E-mail, TORAKI will not accept transactions/instructions that will affect your account or personal information by Internet E-mail messages; however general product or service questions or inquiries are welcome.

TORAKI customers are expressly discouraged from sending confidential or personal information via Internet email messages. Please remember Internet email is not secure. Use Internet email to send us non-confidential notes only. Do not use email to send us transaction instructions (e.g. credit card information).

TORAKI customers who choose to send Internet email messages to TORAKI that contain confidential or personal information do so entirely at their own risk.

Question: What are SSL’s (Secure Socket Layers)?

Answer: Information on the World Wide Web is transmitted using 'HTTP' (HyperText Transfer Protocol). Secure data on the Web is distributed by using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL). This is a layer of security over top of HTTP information. (The location addresses for secure sites use 'https:' at the beginning instead of the regular insecure 'http:'). Your browser would have been shipped to you with SSL enabled. Please see your browser's 'Help' files for more information about SSL. For your protection our responses will not include any confidential information.

Question: What's Javascript? So, what is Javascript and what does it do?

Answer: Javascript simplifies computing, both for users, and for the companies building and using computers and software for the Internet. TORAKI uses Javascript technology to bring to the internet, the power of distribution and order fulfillment systems. We use Javascript on our website to allow Internet orders to be processed, and fulfilled as quickly and easily as they would be over the phone. And your web browser needs to be configured to allow Javascripts to run.

Question: What happens if I do not have Javascript enabled on my browser?

Answer: You will not be able to use our shopping service if you do not enable Javascript on your browser. You might think our service is working, but our web server will not be able to locate your shopping basket on successive clicks.

Question: What happens if I do not have cookies enabled on my browser?

Answer: TORAKI does not permanently store cookies on your hard-drive. We use “per-Session” cookies that DO NOT remain on your hard drive after you leave www.toraki.com.

Question: How secure is your website?

Answer: We want to assure you that when you are using our secure ordering procedure, all of your credit card information is protected. We use "SSL" encryption when your credit card information is sent across the Internet, and that means that no one can understand that data, because it is scrambled with a 128 bit digital key. We, (like many web merchants), have a digital certificate issued by Network Solutions which your browser checks before allowing this transmission. For more in how this works, visit Network Solutions website (www.networksolutions.com).

Question: How does TORAKI make sure my order information is secure?

Answer: Protecting your order information is a priority for us. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your online order information. To check the security of your connection, look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser window after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken key (Netscape) or a closed lock (Microsoft Explorer), then SSL is active and the server is secure. You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https". Some versions of browsers and some firewalls don't permit communication through secure servers. In that case, you won't be able to connect to the server and therefore won't be able to place an order through an insecure connection. If you cannot access the secure server for any reason, please contact us and place your order via one of the other available methods found in the “Contact Us” section.

Question: What protection does the 'Logout' button provide?

Answer: Once you click on the 'Logout' button, the 'Back' button will not return to your 'Account Information'. If you wish to access www.toraki.com again, you must return to the login procedure. This feature ensures your TORAKI session is ended, so no further transactions can be processed.

Question: How can I tell what level of encryption my Web browser supports?

Answer:
If you use Netscape Navigator:
Click on the 'Security' icon (has an open lock on non-encrypted pages; closed lock on encrypted pages) in the 'Navigator toolbar' at the top of the page (you can also click on the lock in the bottom left corner). Select 'Navigator' on the 'Security Info' screen that appears. Under 'Advanced Security (SSL) Configuration' click on either the 'Configure SSL v2' or 'Configure SSL v3' button. On the 'Configure Ciphers - Netscape' screen, it will indicate the level of encryption available and being used (indicated by the checkmark) on your browser.
If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer:
When you're in a secure site, a lock symbol appears in the bottom right of the screen, to show that data is being encrypted. To determine what level of encryption your browser provides, at the top of your browser screen, click on: 'File', then 'Properties', then select the 'Security' tab. From there, scroll down to see 'Privacy strength'.

Question: How do I get a 128-bit encryption Web browser?

Answer:
Downloading 128-bit Netscape Communicator

1. Go to http://home.netscape.com/download/index.html?cp=djudepart
2. Depending on your computer's operating system, select the appropriate 128-bit browser software (which Netscape calls '128-bit Strong Encryption')
3. Carefully read the restrictions the U.S. government places on export of 128-bit encrypted software. Complete the forms, and follow the instructions.
4. Install the software following Netscape's instructions.

Downloading 128-bit Microsoft Internet Explorer
1. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.asp
2. Depending on your Operating Systems, select the appropriate128-bit browser.
3. Read the information presented, click 'Download' and follow the instructions.
4. Install the software following Microsoft's instructions.
Note: TORAKI is not responsible for any difficulties or problems in downloading and installing the software. Technical support is provided by the ORIGINAL software suppliers (e.g. Microsoft or Netscape, etc.).

Question: Your Web pages are wider than my computer screen. How can I see the full width of the pages without scrolling left to right?

Answer: Please adjust your monitor’s settings to a resolution of 800 x 600 or higher (832 x 624, 1024 x 768, etc.). To change monitor settings, please examine your control panel in the display settings.

Question: Which web browser should I use to view your site?

Answer: We recommend you use the latest version of either Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you have a previous version of one of these browsers, you can download a free copy of the latest version at Netscape's or Microsoft's Web site (please read the “Technical Questions - Information Technology” section of this website). The “newest” internet browser versions will permit the use of the latest advances in technology while also incorporating the use of 128 bit encryption.

Question: What is encryption and how does it work?

Answer: Encryption is the process of scrambling data into an unreadable format that is more secure for transmission over the Internet. Very similar to secret code, encryption takes your data and uses complex mathematical equations called algorithms to scramble the information into an unreadable format called ciphertext. The ciphertext is impossible to read without having a key to unscramble the information to its original form.
Information is scrambled or encrypted at the sending side (client browser or TORAKI server) and then unscrambled or decrypted at the receiving side (TORAKI server or client browser). The two most common levels of encryption are 40-bit and 128-bit and they have both been implemented commercially on popular browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
The encryption we use during on-line TORAKI sessions to transmit your data is based on a highest level of security currently available to prevent the risk of the information being intercepted and read by a third party.

Question: What is the difference between 40-bit encryption and 128-bit encryption?

Answer: Encryption is a method of scrambling messages so they cannot be read without decryption keys. There are currently two levels of encryption available in today's popular web browsers: 40-bit encryption and 128-bit encryption. Although most browsers support 40-bit encryption, the 128-bit browsers provide the highest level of security available in North America today.

Question: Why is TORAKI using a 128-bit encryption standard?

Answer: The length of the key used to encrypt messages is a good indication of the amount of effort needed to decrypt that message. Any software with encryption features having key lengths over 40 bits is considered strong encryption. However, by increasing the length of the key by one bit, the amount of effort required to crack the code doubles.
Based on that formula, 128-bit encrypted messages are 309,485,009,821,345,068,724,781,056 times harder to break than 40-bit messages.

Question: Do I share responsibility for the security of my information?

Answer: Privacy and Security is critical to your use of www.toraki.com. Privacy and Security is a shared responsibility. The breakdown of these shared security responsibilities include; you, the consumer and TORAKI - You are responsible for the following:
1. Protecting your access information ~ www.toraki.com password
2. Knowing your browser - gain a basic understanding of how the security features in your browser function

Question: Does TORAKI share the information it receives?

Answer: Information about our customers is an important part of our business, and we are not in the business of selling it to others. We share customer information ONLY with the subsidiaries TORAKI operates with. For more information please read the “Privacy / Security Policy” section.

Question: Can I include a link to your website from a website which I support?

Answer: We encourage other websites to link to our home page. We reserve the right to disallow any such links if we determine that the reference would be offensive to our customers in any way.

Question: Will you include a link on www.toraki.com to my website?

Answer: We regret that we cannot provide links from our website to other sites unless there is a specific business relationship which we wish to communicate to our customers (example: UPS Logistics Group).

Question: Your website seems slow, why?

Answer: We take pride in the performance of our website but sometimes people inform us they unfortunately experienced problems. In our experience, performance problems on the Internet can occur for a variety of different reasons, including the time of day, congestion on the Internet itself, problems at an individual Internet Service Provider, or problems at a website.
Our website usually operates 7 days per week, 24 hours per day, and has a lot of unused capacity to handle peak loads. It's always possible that you tried us at a time when we were very busy, but we suspect that what you experienced was for a different reason.
We would like to encourage you to revisit www.toraki.com again, and if the problem persists as the result of our error, we will be working in an expedient and successful manner so that you will not be affected in the future.
